In occupied Mariupol, Russian authorities are confiscating almost 6,000 houses and apartments belonging to Ukrainians
In occupied Mariupol, Russian authorities are massively confiscating real estate belonging to Ukrainian citizens who fled the city during the Russian invasion or died as a result of hostilities. This is reported by the BBC, citing documents published by the Russian-appointed “administration” of Mariupol. Since July 2024, according to the publication, at least 5,700 apartments and houses have been prepared for alienation.
In an interview with the BBC, city residents said that in order to retain their property rights, owners must personally arrive in Mariupol through Russian territory, undergo lengthy checks by the FSB, during which Ukrainians are often taken into custody, and also overcome complex bureaucratic procedures - up to and including obtaining a Russian passport. In practice, it is almost impossible for Ukrainians to return their property, emphasizes former adviser to the Ukrainian mayor of Mariupol Petro Andryushchenko.
How the hell is it being allowed to happen that Russian authorities are allowed to conviscate 6.000 houses and apartments from the owner of Ukrainians how is this allowed to happen. It reminds me when in WW2 stole the houses of Jews when the got sent to the gas chambers. So what's happening to the 6.000 occupants of these houses.?
